Ayodhya has become one of India's busiest pilgrim destinations, and almost every vehicle arriving here has come down a tolled highway to get in.
Ayodhya’s traffic is unlike any other city its size. Cars, tempo travellers and full coaches arrive continuously from Lucknow on NH 27, from the Purvanchal Expressway interchanges, and from Gorakhpur and Varanasi in the east — all tolled routes. For the taxi and coach operators who do this run daily, the FASTag is a working expense, and the vehicle class on it decides whether every single trip is billed correctly.
These are the tolled routes Ayodhya vehicles use most — every one of them runs on FASTag:
We serve all of Ayodhya and the surrounding belt. A snapshot:
Outside Ayodhya? We cover the rest of the state too — see FASTag service across Uttar Pradesh, or browse every city we serve.
Ayodhya vehicles carry UP 42 registration. The FASTag you need depends on your vehicle class, not the city — a private car is Class 4, while trucks and buses run from Class 6 up to Class 16 by axle count. Send us the RC and we'll confirm the correct class before issuing, so you're never charged the wrong toll rate.
Ayodhya runs on passenger vehicles that are not ordinary cars — tempo travellers, mini buses and full coaches. FASTag charges by vehicle class, and the class is decided by the vehicle category and axle count, not by how full it is. A tempo traveller tagged as a car, or a coach tagged a class too low, means the plaza either bills you wrong or refuses the tag and hotlists it.
Operators who get this wrong usually discover it after weeks of running. Send us the RC and permit for each vehicle and we will confirm the class against it before issuing — see the new FASTag page for how classes work, or the vehicle class guide for the detail.
Often not — and it is worth knowing why before you pay for it. The NHAI FASTag Annual Pass is only for private, non-commercial cars, jeeps and vans, and it covers 200 trips or one year on National Highway plazas, whichever comes first. A commercial taxi or a coach running pilgrims does not qualify for it at all, whatever anybody tells you.
For a private car that drives to Ayodhya a few times a year, it rarely pays. For a private car commuting a tolled highway most weeks, it often does. Our pass calculator works it out from your actual trip count in a few seconds, and the annual pass page explains the conditions in full.
That is the whole list. Send them on WhatsApp and we handle the rest — see the new FASTag and KYC update pages for the detail on each.
Send a WhatsApp to +91 94521 81700 with a photo of your RC and the vehicle number. We confirm the correct vehicle class, issue the tag from whichever NETC bank suits you, and tell you where to collect it or have it delivered in Ayodhya. Vehicles on the UP 42 series are usually handled the same day.
Yes. Recharge is fully remote — send your vehicle number and the amount on WhatsApp and we top up the tag on any NETC issuer within minutes. You do not need to travel anywhere in Ayodhya to do it.
All of them. The routes Ayodhya drivers use most — NH 27 (Lucknow–Ayodhya–Gorakhpur), Purvanchal Expressway, NH 330 (Ayodhya–Sultanpur) and Ayodhya Bypass — run entirely on NETC FASTag and the lanes are cashless. Without a working tag you pay the higher cash rate at the plaza, where that option still exists at all.
Usually yes. A tag goes blacklisted for one of three reasons: low balance, incomplete or expired KYC, or the issuer hotlisting it. We check which it is against your vehicle number, clear the balance or KYC side the same day, and arrange a replacement if the tag itself is damaged. No visit from Ayodhya is needed.
Send us the vehicle number and we look up pending e-challans against it, then tell you what is outstanding and where it was raised. We can only look a challan up and explain it — we cannot cancel, reduce or waive one, and nobody legitimately can.
Yes — we serve all of Ayodhya and the belt around it, including Ram Path, Ayodhya Dham, Naya Ghat, Saket, Civil Lines, Faizabad. Recharge, KYC, status checks and challan lookups all happen over WhatsApp, so distance makes no difference.
The main approaches are NH 27 from Lucknow in the west and Gorakhpur in the east, the Purvanchal Expressway interchanges to the south, and NH 330 from Sultanpur. All of them are tolled and run on NETC FASTag, so a working tag with a real balance is part of the trip whichever way you come in.
It depends on the vehicle category and axle count, not on seating alone - a tempo traveller is not a car and a coach is not a light vehicle. Send us the RC and permit and we will confirm the correct class before issuing, because the wrong class means every trip is billed at the wrong rate or the tag gets hotlisted.
No. The 3,000 rupee annual pass is only for private, non-commercial cars, jeeps and vans, and covers 200 trips or one year on National Highway plazas. Commercial taxis and coaches are not eligible, regardless of what they are told by anyone selling it.
