Lucknow anchors two of India's longest expressways — Agra–Lucknow and Purvanchal, both fully tolled.
The Agra–Lucknow Expressway made Delhi a single-day drive, and Purvanchal opened the eastern UP corridor. Expressway tolls are substantial, so a healthy balance before departure is essential.
These are the tolled routes Lucknow vehicles use most — every one of them runs on FASTag:
We serve all of Lucknow and the surrounding belt. A snapshot:
Outside Lucknow? We cover the rest of the state too — see FASTag service across Uttar Pradesh, or browse every city we serve.
Lucknow vehicles carry UP 32 registration. The FASTag you need depends on your vehicle class, not the city — a private car is Class 4, while trucks and buses run from Class 6 up to Class 16 by axle count. Send us the RC and we'll confirm the correct class before issuing, so you're never charged the wrong toll rate.
These are the plazas you actually meet on the way in and out of Lucknow. Every one of them is a FASTag lane — keep a balance that covers the round trip, not just the outbound leg.
| Toll plaza | On route | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Agra–Lucknow Expressway | Lucknow–Agra, 302 km | Closed, distance-based tolling — one long charge, so the balance has to cover the whole run |
| Purvanchal Expressway | Lucknow–Ghazipur, 341 km | Entry near Chand Sarai; charged by distance at the exit, including the Ayodhya and Ambedkar Nagar interchanges |
| NH 27 | Lucknow–Ayodhya–Gorakhpur | The pilgrim and freight corridor east; conventional plazas along the way |
| NH 27 / NH 19 | Lucknow–Kanpur | Daily commuter and industrial traffic between the two cities |
Plaza names and locations as commonly signposted. NHAI and the state road authorities revise toll rates, and occasionally plaza locations, so treat the board at the plaza as the final word on the fare.
Most of UP’s tolled kilometres are closed, distance-based expressways rather than open plazas — Agra–Lucknow and Purvanchal both read your tag at entry and charge at the exit. That changes what “enough balance” means. A tag with a couple of hundred rupees will take you through an open plaza and then fail at the end of a 300 km expressway run, in the one place where there is no easy alternative.
Before a long run on either expressway, send us the vehicle number and we will check the balance and status and top it up. It takes a minute and it is the cheapest insurance on the trip.
Lucknow is the staging point for the whole eastern corridor. Taxi operators running pilgrims to Ayodhya, goods vehicles heading for Ambedkar Nagar and Tanda, and the long hauls to Varanasi and Gorakhpur all start here, and all of them are tolled end to end.
For operators running the same route daily, the right answer is usually a correctly classed tag plus a standing balance — and for private cars, possibly the NHAI annual pass. Our pass calculator will tell you in a few seconds whether it pays for your running.
Send a WhatsApp to +91 94521 81700 with a photo of your RC and the vehicle number. We confirm the correct vehicle class, issue the tag from whichever NETC bank suits you, and tell you where to collect it or have it delivered in Lucknow. Vehicles on the UP 32 series are usually handled the same day.
Yes. Recharge is fully remote — send your vehicle number and the amount on WhatsApp and we top up the tag on any NETC issuer within minutes. You do not need to travel anywhere in Lucknow to do it.
All of them. The routes Lucknow drivers use most — Agra–Lucknow Expressway, Purvanchal Expressway, NH 27 and NH 30 — run entirely on NETC FASTag and the lanes are cashless. Without a working tag you pay the higher cash rate at the plaza, where that option still exists at all.
Usually yes. A tag goes blacklisted for one of three reasons: low balance, incomplete or expired KYC, or the issuer hotlisting it. We check which it is against your vehicle number, clear the balance or KYC side the same day, and arrange a replacement if the tag itself is damaged. No visit from Lucknow is needed.
Send us the vehicle number and we look up pending e-challans against it, then tell you what is outstanding and where it was raised. We can only look a challan up and explain it — we cannot cancel, reduce or waive one, and nobody legitimately can.
Yes — we serve all of Lucknow and the belt around it, including Gomti Nagar, Hazratganj, Aliganj, Indira Nagar, Alambagh, Rajajipuram. Recharge, KYC, status checks and challan lookups all happen over WhatsApp, so distance makes no difference.
Both are closed, distance-based systems. Your FASTag is read when you enter and the charge for the distance you actually travelled is deducted when you exit. There are no small plaza-by-plaza deductions along the way, so the balance needs to cover the whole journey before you join the expressway.
Yes. Send the RC and permit and we will confirm the correct commercial class before issuing, so the plaza never charges you the wrong rate. For a vehicle on that route every day we would also set up a standing balance and monthly statements so the toll spend is reconcilable.
